Letter sounds and blending games

We had great fun on Friday going to different stations, practicing our letter sounds and playing blending games. Don't worry if your child is finding these concepts a bit tricky but please do try and practice the blending at home too. The children are working very hard on these and we will be doing even more blending and rhyming words this term.

Aistear: The Café

The children seemed to really enjoy 'The Café' Aistear topic and a lot of the teachers even got to try some of the children's 'cappuccinos' and 'homemade cupcakes' every day! Here are some pictures of them over the last two weeks.

Welcome to Junior Infants, Sunny!

The children have all done an excellent job looking after Edwin at home, so we have a new friend in our classroom, Sunny the fish! We have been learning all about taking care of living things and how we have to be responsible for them when they're in our care.                                                 The children are being very kind and greeting Sunny each morning and asking when it's time to feed her and clean the tank so they really are looking after her very well, welcome to Jessica's Junior Infants, Sunny!

Homework for Term 2

It is similar to last term, 2 sounds per week and practice reading our tricky words and the Word Box words (sound out words). Here is a copy of the note that went home today.  Some children were missing folders and books, so if you could return everything this week, we can ensure your child has everything they need! Also can you return the scrapbooks ASAP please, we will be adding to them as the year goes on.  Our sounds for this week are J and X Formation rhyme -  From the middle, dive down deep and turn. Don't forget the dot.  Formation rhyme -  Slide down, bump, slide down the other way and bump. Also Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  We looked at his life story and why today we celebrate the great changes he helped to make.
