Trip to Portmarnock Beach

The Junior Infants and Senior Infants were all lucky enough to go on a trip to Portmarnock beach before the break.
Dave came in and to our school first and told us all about the different types of life that live on the beach. We learned about crabs, seaweed, mussles and even lug worms (they're worms that cause the noodle like patterns in the sand!) Dave let us hold the creatures if we wanted to and some children really were very brave!

Then we went on our first bus trip to Portmarnock beach, which the children seemed to think was almost like being on a roller coaster!

The beach was great fun because we got into two groups, one went with Jessica and one went with Dave and Maria. We had to find things that belong on the beach and things that didn't belong on the beach and make a sea monster out of them. One sea monster had long, skinny legs with 200 eyes and the other one had big thick legs and lots of hair, very creative!

We had a picnic, made sand castles, visited the rock pools with Dave and even had ice creams - what a perfect way to spend a Thursday morning! :)

Some important information!

Hello everyone, Just a few reminders and notices for you all. On Monday morning the Junior Infants will start lining up at the numbers '1' or '2' in the basketball court. We will come out and collect the class when the bell goes at 8.30. We would ask the parents not to come in with the children from Monday onwards as there are a lot of children and teachers making their way to their own classrooms. This will also help to establish a classroom routine and get the children used to coming in without their parents.  The children will also be starting a longer day from Monday, so they will finish at 1.20 each afternoon.  Some parents received Glanmore food menus to avail of the school lunches for the children. If you could please complete these and return them by Wednesday, that would be great! If you didn't get a form today, let us know and we will give one to you on Monday.  Lastly, could you please give your child a baby photo of themselves to bri

Letter sounds and blending games

We had great fun on Friday going to different stations, practicing our letter sounds and playing blending games. Don't worry if your child is finding these concepts a bit tricky but please do try and practice the blending at home too. The children are working very hard on these and we will be doing even more blending and rhyming words this term.
